Cruising towards completion at Unicorn Halls

We’re making great progress over at the Unicorn Halls project in Preston. When finished, the £9.4m venture will deliver a beautifully modern student accommodation complex comprised of 128 studio apartments. In addition to the three and five-storey newly built accommodation blocks, a grade 2 listed public house will be converted into five additional studio apartments and communal spaces.

Since our last update, we’ve made some great strides. Over at the listed public house, the stabilisation of the existing structure is nearing completion, opening the door for the demolition and internal soft strip works to be finished. What’s more, the external pointing to all elevations is substantially complete.

Over at the new build part of the project, everything is starting to take shape:

  • The external steel framing system and cement particle board are progressing well to all elevations and floors

  • Internally, the blockwork to the substation and comms rooms is in progress

  • M&E containment is ongoing on all floors

  • The final placement of bathroom pods has commenced on the 3rd floor

  • The 1st fix of M&E works is substantially complete to the 3rd floor with the 2nd floor to follow soon.

With a modern architectural design, each apartment will feature modern kitchens, comfortable beds, dedicated study areas, and prefabricated ensuite bathrooms. This project showcases Truman's dedication to blending modern, sustainable living spaces with the preservation of historical integrity.

As we enter the autumn and winter months, we’re knuckling down to deliver a game-changing result for Unicorn Developments, all while hitting that completion date of March 2024.
